Default Changing Plugs and Wires!

It took me 8 hours to change my plugs and wires!!! is this normal on a our cars?

Is there an easier way?

I took the Intake and the Alternator off when i did them!

I went with NGK TR55's and some MSD wires!

That sounds longer than normal...But I have yet to install mine yet so I'm not sure. To tell you the truth I'm definately dreading it! Atleast you got it out of the way now..

its average!! depending on how good you are and if you know the tricks...the tricks vary from whether you have headers or exhaust manifolds and if its m6 or a4....i good thing to do is to disconnect the battery and take your starter down and move it around so you can get your arm up in there for the back two on the pass side...also get a sparkplug socket and use a wrench on that socket...makes things nicer...i can usually do it in about 4 hours..plugs and wires that is

The previous owner of my SS tried to change plugs on my car before selling to me and he got all except for the last one or two furthest back on the passenger side. Under the hood looks like a nightmare, especially with a Vortech blower and aftercooler sitting on top of the motor on the driver's side. I'm dreading the day I have to do plugs and wires on my car. Don't really drive it too much, so I hope that day is FAR FAR away.

It takes me about 4-5 hours. About an hour to get it on/off the jacks; about 2 hours to r&r the front part of the exhaust system; and about 45 minutes to r&r the plugs.

If you're changing the wires, add about another hour and a half, or so. The shop manual says to r&r the power steering pump for that. I've changed the wires 2 times. The first time, I didn't remove the pump, and it was a PITA getting the wires through the wire loom behind the pump. The second time, I pulled the pump, and although that, in itself, was annoying, it made the wire swap a breeze.

The Plugs i had the most problems with were Number 7 and 2 spark plugs, the worst is number 7 tho, I have pacesetters and the tube is in the way to where i cant put a socket over it and a box wrench does no good either.

anyone had this problem with Pacesetters? oh yeah there Mid Length headers!
