LT1 making a ticking noise
LT1 making a ticking noise I bought a 1995 T/A M6 about 3 months ago and have been doing a lot of baseline maintenance because I don't know what the last owner actually did.
Since the begining the engine was making a ticking noise kinda like an engine with headers and no cats does. I had also been tracking my gas mileage and it was kinda low.
So, today I was looking over my stock manifolds and plugs. I found out 5 out of the 8 spark plugs were loose. They were loose by about a 1/4 turn. So I tightened them all and now the engine sounds a lot quieter. I can hear my cat back exhaust a lot better. I will now see if I get any better combustion by tracking mileage again.
I just wanted to let you guys know because I heard when you change plugs you have to tighten them down a few times after the engine heats and cools because we have aluminum heads.
