I would data-log the car and make sure the tune is right, no knock and air fuel is ok. Nathan Plemons posted a 14 hp gain using 1.7's on the hotcam. I myself added the 1.7's to my "stock head stock cam " car back in the spring. I hit the same dyno when ever I do a mod. 10 rwhp and 6 lbft torque was seen over the 1.6 Promags. My last dyno run was 1 year earlier when I installed my "shorty headers" and x-pipe, a noted 17 rwhp, 17 lbft gain. My best was 12.97 et. The rocker swap netted me a 12.86 et. and my car weighs 3900 #. A proven gain. Once again I would log the car it may be the tune, mine went a little lean after the swap.

Saying you need heads and OR cam to see the benefits of 1.7s is wrong. Totally wrong.

The reason you wouldn't SEE gains would either be from worse weather, or that they are so negligible that you wouldn't regardless.

What was the DA on both of those track days? I bet they were slightly better the first day.

I agree with Fergy almost 100%

And I'm all for what you said, but the huge different between you and Fergy, is how you went about it. You did it correctly, Fergy did it horribly wrong (IE a complete asshat).

He already had a cam though that was doing .525 on stock heads. From my research, the heads don't flow anything different from .450 and up lift. And if they do, it's only 3 or so CFM.

A dyno before and after would have really told the story.

my mods are in my sig and i do have mildly ported heads and a hotcam so i did expect a little gain but oh well in the process i did get better springs and pushrods and decided to throw a 100 shot on it at least i know i will get a gain from that lol.

i would do 1.7s on a stock cam,no big deal more lift is a great thing especially with a docile factory cam!!!!!!

as for the OP you may not have seen a gain variables can affect this easily. i feel you will see a gainin the longrun!

Totally untrue. Roller tipped rockers have been dyno proven to add 12 rwhp, where full roller rockers have made 20+. If increased lift doesn't add hp, then why are cam only LT1s making more horsepower than bolt on LT1s? If it doesn't require lift to make power, order a cam with stock lift and a higher duration and radical lobe separation and see how fast you can get.
