IIRC Vizard said the stock Throttle Body becomes a restriction when you start revving higher.

Just as the Ram Jet 502 comes with the 48mm TB, people have dyno proven results going to a bigger TB on that..

any body know the answer to my question on the 1st page? does changing to 1.6RR's increase duration, i understand that it increases lift, but wondered if it also increased the duration a cam had.

Yea i used to get asked regularily what kinda exhaust you got on that?

my answer was always the same, no i just cut off the muffler at the y-pipe and its running thru the dual cats thats it.

but that wasnt realistic it was loud man, now its only loud above like 3k rpms which is nice cause i can actually listen to music on the highway without blarring it and still only barely hearing it haha!

They may/do produce an extra degree or two of duration at the valve and increase overlap but the primary change is in the lift.

so you're saying that the same rule of thumb doesnt apply to duration as it does lift ie take the lift divide by 1.5 then multiply by 1.6 to get lift, you wouldnt use that same method to figure out the duration as well?

correct, it does not apply to the duration at all just the lift.

Believe it or not, I have a ported stock TB in the shop as I type this, lol. I try to stock a few things, 160 degree t-stats, seals and gaskets, etc, but it is just too costly to physically stock much more. I think with the addition of a 2500-3000 stall you would be very happy.

I can't answer that one. I never turn my LT1 much more than 7400 rpm!

I was just recalling what Vizard stated in an article years ago. Something along the lines that the stock TB is a restriction over 5000rpms.

if it is a 5-10 hp increase throughout the entire rpm range then i would say it is defenently worth the 2-3 hundred bucks...
