fireing order
fuel pressure?
spark?
are you positive you timed it right? i coulda swore up and down mine was lined up but i did it a few teeth off one time and got exactly what it sounds like u have
if the firing order was wrong it wouldnt even start up most likely!! it would crank and crank and crank...not start up and sputter off till it dies
at least nothing i have ever touched with the wrong firing order has done that with the firing order being wrong..
Well then not to be a ***** but you would be the FIRST person to have a couple mixed wires & an APSOLUTE no start condition, i'll bet you anything, if you cross 2 wires, hell even 3 that your engine will start, it won't start easy, but it'll start/pop/backfire/spit/sputter & stall depending on how many are crossed, just like this guy is exsperiecing, i've worked on many cars in my time, almost always if the fireing order is off a couple, it will still run, i'm talking 2-3 cyclinders, not 6, then it won't start having that many off, so go out & cross a couple wires on your ride, then get back to me & tell me it doesn't start, i'll bet you anything it'll drive down the road, may run like ****, but it'll run garuanteed. Also, it'll depend on which cylinders you have crossed is to how bad its effected just speaking 2 wires that is.
another thing to look into is are you absolutely sure that you put the cam in right. is it timed correctly. that could be another reason for not starting or extremely rough idle
With key-on engine off do you hear fuel pump prime?
Yes the fuel pump primes with key-on already checked that

the cam is degree'd and put in completely correct it is in time also because I got the motor back from the machine shop and it was completely assembled from oil pan to intake.... very reputable machine shop here in town
was the engine a rebuild? I built one that did the same thing, and it turned out I had forgot to put the reluctor(or however it is spelled) ring back on the crank.
This is why i put a carbed small block in my 95, but as for issues, do as everyone has stated, check all the things, fuel, fire, ect. Eventually it will surface, make sure all grounds have been connected. From this you will only learn and get better at trouble shooting, but a break is needed to keep you from installing gas and matches.

yes the engine was a rebuild but I had someone put it together for me at a machine shop. I have spark and I've checked every ground there is! I'm gonna check for fuel pressure because I know even if the fuel filter primes it doesn't mean im getting fuel to the motor so thats next
