My factory manual is for a 1995 Camaro, maybe they changed their reasoning somewhere. I have a 1995 Firebird and like I said the service manual says 87 but my fuel door recomends premium gasoline (what ever that means), 89,91, 92, or 93. Its up to you, 93 will never hurt. I have always ran 94 octane in my dirt bike (12.5:1 compression) and quadraceer (12:1 compression).

well my only reason for running 91 is my tune and the fact that i have had friends with older SBC's (obviously not LT1's but still kinda the same) and they always used to knock a little with the lower octane gas, so i mean if you beat on your car then i would def just use the highest octane as a safety thing cause you def dont want any detonation or anything with the lower octane, although i did once run 89 and it didnt seem bad, but would never honestly do it again (was broke haha)

I run 93.
Lower your altitude the more octane you need because your car is taking in more air, higher the altitude, the less octane you need because its taking in less air.

Yeah same here in Michigan, 94 octane is the highest unleaded fuel. Do you guys know anyone that runs leaded fuel in their F-body and drives it on the street? I know some stations in Michigan have 110 or 115 leaded race fuel. I heard leaded clogs cats and can mess up valves, please let me know if this is a myth.
