an 315 is way too wide for a 17x9 rim.

yes but nitto's run pretty small for their size, their 275's are more like 245's/255's etc.

315 will fit a 9" rim, you can always go a 1/2" smaller than the rating! I run the extreme r555's all the way around! They hook pretty good on my 383, but I have suspension mods too! Great tread life also. Imo these are the best all around performance tires!

^^^Why are you running DR's up front, if you don't mind me asking?

I'm running the 275/40/17 Nitto DR's out back and they hook extremely well. Even without heating them up on the street, I can still get minimal wheel spin from a dig and just bark the 1-2 shift. I couldn't be any happier with them. Especially since they're only $150/tire. They do seem to be a little skinnier than your average 275 though.

I have nittos on my stroker, and without a burn out, ill slaughter the tires. With a burn out, I have yet to try.

it is a total shame that people think a wider tire is best for traction!
they do look good but not nesessary.

Yeah this is correct, and Nitto 315's are about the same size width as 275's from any other tire manufacturer. They do hook awesome and last for about 10,000-15,000 depending on your driving.
