Default Having problem with Fans?

Here is alittle info on what i've done, about 2 months ago i hooked up a toggle for the fans so i could control them at the track, i just did a simple toggle, with a power lead (fused) too the switch, then tapped into both fans with a Y, its all been working fine up till now, while changing the clutch, i sent the PCM to MadZ for a tune, while driving it today, i turned the fans on around 180*, on the way back to the storage, i started smelling something, then the smell was gone, when i stopped at my storage to put the car up, the temp climbed to around 205*, well i noticed the fans weren't working, it blew the fuse, but what i'm stumped on is WHY didn't the PCM kick them on?, Ion set them to come on at 185*, but they never came on, could i have blown a fan relay, it looks like theres 3 for the fans, would there be any other fuses for the fans? They seemed to be working good up untill now, could a low battery cause this issue drawing too many Amps, the car did sit for about 3 weeks, i was thinking of just running heavier wire like 8 gauge throughout, it blew a 30 amp fuse, so what should i check??

what fuse? if the fuse for the fans blew then they would not come on regardless of the tune, or are you talking about the fuse in the switch itself? Try replacing the fuse and see what happens. Also you can check the relay and see if that is B/O. My fans were nto kicking on either, i picked up an SLP fan switch and i just leave them on all the time.

Yeah, i think i'll invest in a heavier switch, then run 8 gauge wire throughout right too the fans, i'm sure the wire just overloaded & popped the fuse, because i did smell something getting hot, its just ironic it was doing great for the last 2 months, now after the tune it gets stupid, i don't really see how the tune would have anything to do with it, sence its running on its own wireing & switch, but i figured i'de ask, now if the battery was low, i can see that popping the fuse (maybe), BTW, how many Amps do each of the fans draw if anyone knows??

check your relays to make sure they are all 3 working.

Also, I don't know if it has anything to do with your issue, but your switch setup you described doesn't sound right. Maybe you just used the wrong term since you said it was working before, but you don't need a "power lead" to a fan switch unless the switch itself needs power for a light or something. You turn the fans on by grounding the fan relays, just like the PCM is doing when it commands the fans on through the blue/green wires- they are simply relay grounds. All the switch needs to do is go closed to a ground when you turn it on... the other side of the switch goes to your tap(s) for the green/blue relay grounds coming from the the PCM through the C100 connector in the engine bay, and it does not need to be fused since this is just a ground gircuit. Depending on the switch configuration, when you hit the switch(es), it grounds the fan relay(s), which then allows power to the fan(s) via the relay(s).

Reading through your posts again just now it occurred to me that maybe you've bypassed the relays with your switch setup, and are taking new power directly to the fans?

Can you clarify exactly what you've done?

This is what i've done, i did find a problem, where i Y'd off, those 2 wires were getting hot, but they where smaller (12 gauge) then the fan wires in the harness, my main feed was 12 gauge also.
