is this a good deal? small local used car dealership just repo'd a '93 TA... its got 140,xxx miles, red with light grey (???) leather, raised spoiler and 5-spoke wheels (as opposed to the 3-spoke twists). Previous owner owned a transmission shop so they claim the tranny was recently rebuilt (A4)... also has new vented opti, plugs, wires, flowmaster catback, tires...
taillights are separating from the housing and the rear bumper needs a repaint... otherwise besides some dirty carpet, its in excellent condition
plans would probably be a .030 rebuild with some Elliott heads... complete interior overhall (I can get a complete '02 interior for next to nothing) and a media blast/complete repaint of the exterior
manager says they've got $2k in it and will probably ask for $3k once the title and paperwork are cleared up... I figure I can throw down twenty Benjamins and drive it off

Sounds like a pretty good deal..come in at 2600.00 and see what they say. Also, see if they can come up with a receipt for the transmission or get the info for the previous owner to find out more details

went and looked at it again today - essentially it'll sit behind their office until the paperwork is sorted out (good month or two)
drove it around a bit - it idles nice and smooth... shifts are firm and crisp. btw, there's no record of the tranny rebuild that the mgr suggested and they aren't about to contact the guy they repo'd it from... but I know the location so I may just stop by and ask myself
odd question - its a hardtop and the liner is sagging a bit... most people put dynamat on the floor and doors but is it ok to put a good layer on the roof before reinstalling the liner?
oh, and I came up with a great idea - the little lot is the used location for a larger Chevy/Pontiac dealership in the town I grew up in... a salesman at the new location is an old friend of mine from HS and says he'll sell it to me for $100 over what they have in it... so $2100... not bad

no thats not a bad deal at all man...and on your ? yea it will be fine to put a layer up there....kinda pointless but you can do it??? dynamat is used for sound deadening and i dont know what sound will be comin from the top of the car...but man its def a good deal....
