Im doing a H/C swap and wondering if I should use LS7 lifters new or just reuse the stock ones in my car. The car only has 32,000 miles on it.
Same question about my timing chain
My car had 40k on it when I did the h/c and had a lifter with a crack in it already. I've always been told to replace for insurance. Same with my timing chain, it had slack in it and replaced it for peace of mind as well.
If the rollers roll freely which they more than likely will then theres no need to swap to some LS7's. I ran the stock lifters with my first cam and slapped in some LS7's this time around because I thought they were ticking but they weren't. As for the timing chain I would buy a new GM chain and you will be good to go, I even did with 10,000 miles on the original, might as well do it right the first time around.
i always was under the impression that whenever you do new cam. but thats with a flat tap it. but hey if you have the money its a good thing to do. newer cam higher lift etc etc. theres alot more pressure on them. its insurance that id take

+2 on the timing chain. A new timing chain is dirt cheap and to know it's fresh... Here are some parts number for the whole 9 yards...
Timing chain 10128485
camshaft timing sprocket 10128349
crankshaft sprocket 10128346
front cover gasket 10128293
crankshaft front oil seal 10128316
if you decide on the LS7 lifters 12499225
I reused my 135k mile lifters, builder said they appeard to be fine. He cleaned them all up of course. If you have the money just laying around, might as well buy some ls7 lifters, and new chain. A new chain is fairly cheap, even from the dealer.
how big is the cam? the thing with the ls7 lifters are they have more clearance to clear the dog bones in the lifter valley for higher lift cams. They are the exact same lifters as the comp cams high lift hydr. rollers for all stock roller camed sbc, ltx, lsx motors.
