Default MSD cap O ring

So I got my MSD unit yesterday. So after reading so much about the O ring I'm a bit confused. I used a little sylicone to hold it on the cap in place. There is that little lip on the cap. I can't immagine it going else where. It does set on the alum housing and I made sure the cap screws are tight. Since I've read, if its on wrong the rotor will hit the cap, I don't want that. So since its still appart I'd rather get it right the first time.

If you are talking about the issue i'm thinking of, MSD now offers a "square cut" o-ring. The round o-ring has been said to roll up and out of place and the square cut fits flush with no issues. If you didn't get a square cut you can call MSD and they will ship you one for free.

Sweet thanks! So it does go on the outside. For that I'll say this was a screw up!

I put cap on with gasket (round one) on the bench.

You stretch the round gasket (don't break it) and place it over the base of Opti. It fits around the edge. Quickly set the cap over it before it constricts and screw it on.

Spin the shaft and listen/feel if any rotor contact noise.

mount complete Opti on motor.

Yeah I spoke to MSD today and I did place the O ring on ok. The way I did it with the cap first was ok.
