another good way to do it is like this:

Starting with #1 cyl. rotate until the INTAKE rocker goes down then adjust the EXHAUST rocker becuase when the intake lobe is up (opening valve) the exhaust will be on base circle. takes out some of the guess work. Shop teacher tought me this method

hope it helps and good luck

Just turn until the pushrod stops spinning. Usually about half a turn.

I wouldn't go any farther than 1/2 turn..

What all did you do to the motor/valvetrain? If you did a cam swap, while in there I'd replace the pushrods, springs and lifters.

What kind of lifters are you using? That will determine the pre-load.

The factory usually calls for one full turn, but 1/2-3/4 turn is sufficient. If the springs are old, a swap might be a good idea.

This go around I'm going to try one full turn. I had issues at 3/4 turn. Damn valve adjustment, seems everyone has luck doing something else, doesn't seem to be set in concrete at all.

I might be spltting hairs, but if I were to offer an opinion as to why different methods obtain different results, it's because the LT-1 has aluminum heads. They expand at a different rate than iron heads, and also at a different rate than the iron block. Believe me, I've dinked around with mine far more than any other car I've had in the past, going back to 1968. The one difference between all the cars I've worked on? The aluminum heads....
