water temp guage quit workin
well, sometimes it would work for like 5 minutes, and then it would just fall like there was no signal, and not start working for like 2 days.
now, since I busted the one in the block, it hasnt worked AT ALL. I bought a new one today, and put it in......still nothin.
so, the in block water temp sensor on the driver side is new. the one in the water pump is stock. would that one being bad cause the gauge to not work?
also, are they the exact same part? like I got the new temp sensor for the block from napa for like $20. should I get another? what if it still doesnt work?

the sensor you just replaced is in the cylinder head, not the block. Also, the one in the water pump has no affect on the guage, it is only used to tell the PCM when to turn on the fans i beleive. Mine did the same thing when my new headers burned the wiring.
Also, they are two different parts. The sensor in the head plugs in in a "T" shape, while the sensor in the water pump plugs in in a parallel shape (if you look into the electical side of the sensor) if that makes any sense. Check your wiring again. Maybe you bought the wrong sensor

+1 on checking the sensor in the head to make sure its setup for a single wire and that NAPA didn't give you the one for the waterpump.
If the sensor in the water pump goes bad it will pop a error code as that is the one the PCM uses.

well, mine did the same thing, i was chasing wires, and someone had put a small light bulb in the wire, kinda like a inline fuse. I took it out and the guage didnt work. I soldered in a fusable link, works like a charm. I dont know, but you might have a similar problem.
