You should try a cut-out first. You can get them from summit for about $30 shipped, then have it welded on for about 30 minutes of labor at an exhaust shop.If you end up not liking it (it will be pretty loud) you can just close it and forget about it.About a $60 gamble but it's cheaper than a new catback.

I got a cut-out before the rear end on my stock car.Kind of sounds like an old school SBC,but I like it sometimes. When I get tired of it,I just close it up and the sound goes back to like it was never there to begin with.

Why not both? You can get a cutout for another $30 and you can always cap it off around town and open it up at the track.

If your paying to have an exhaust installed, it shouldn't cost too much if anything more.

Cut-out's aren't that expensive.. I had one with a Cap and eventually put in an Electric one, I got sick of having to crawl under the Car to un-cap it.

Cutouts are fun. But, they just get annnoying. I had one in place of my cat, back when I still had shorties. The drone was terrible and it had the worst sound until you got past about 3k. Then, you'd just go deaf. lol. I found a nice happy medium with true duals though. Nice and loud, and one of the sweetest tones you'll hear from an LT1.

I have a QTP cutout in place of my cat, so when emissions time comes i can unbolt it and bolt in the cat. It has that standard rumble when its uncapped, but as said before, it starts singing at about 3k. It fun to drive around when you want EVERYONE to look. Even the soccer mom jogging down the road stops and looks when i drive by ***** to the wall with it uncapped. However, i actually prefer the sound of it screamin through the ORY and into the Magnaflow catback, seems to hit that certain note. Either way you go, the louder it is, the more people look, the more they think about your hotrod.

On all three of my fbodys I have then custome made at the exhust shop I use.

I have them place it right after the rear axle as the pipe takes a bend into the muffler.

Best place IMO. Ive had one right after the Y and it sounded like chit to me.

I agree with what you say about Magnaflow but I would get the cutout before I would get another catback because the Magnaflow does sound pretty damn good. I have Magnaflow with a Cutout on the I-Pipe before the axle (most common place) right now but I have True Duals going on tomorrow. The Cutout is cool for awhile but it got old on me real quick and I didn't think it had a good enough tone but for the $$$ I would definetly give it a shot.

It will be loud
