Lunati Voodoo 270/278
Can't remember exactly what they called it but it is 218/228 at .050 Lunati Part Number 60121 and I was just wondering if anyone has used this cam and with what results.

Lunati's Voodoo series of Hydraulic Roller camshafts deliver more area under the curve than any other series of Hydraulic camshafts. This means more throttle response, quicker acceleration, more vacuum, better efficiency, combined with maximum horsepower and torque!
Hydraulic roller, fair idle. Strong power increase in mildly modified engines with excellent throttle response. Will work with stock converter in 383 and up size engines or 2200 RPM stall speed converter in 305-350 cubic inch engines. Likes 3.23-3.73 rear gears. Also the largest cam for inboard/outboard marine applications.
Advertised Duration (Int/Exh): 270/278
Duration @ .050 (Int/Exh): 221/229
Gross Valve Lift (Int/Exh): .515/.530
LSA/ICL: 112/106
Valve Lash (Int/Exh): Hyd/Hyd
RPM Range: 1800-5800
Includes: Cam Only

I like those specs, different than what we're used to seeing but it looks like a good cam that would make great midrange power and still be drivable. Don't think it would like to shift at 5800 though, prolly more like 6300rpm I'd say. I'd give it a try, but then again you can shell out a few more bucks for a custom grind.

i run the 60122
535/550 1/5's, 231/239 11/106
idles nice at 900rpms, no cam surge, 18" vacuum..
its in a brodix headed 355 with 10:1
if you do a search over at chevelles.com/forums for 60121, you will find many happy ownwers. there is not one unhappy lunati owner over there.
here are a fer videos..
13.6 @ 102 2.25 60'
303whp, 336wtq
i think my heads and tune are holding me back, it should be making atleast 350whp.

And to the OP, I would step it up on the cam to at least the next one in size. The 231/239 cam that dude with the 'velle posted would be a much better choice for power. But for all-'round performance, the one u picked oughta be good...but I would step it up a notch.

i like the 60122, but i wish i would have went with atleast a 195cc head.
im running brodix IK 180, flow 245 @ 600 IN and 178 @ 600 EX.
i found a formula to figure out what heads you should use based on cam specs, and the 60122 needs a head that flows 248cfm on the intake side. so something that flows over 250cfm would work awesome.
there are guys over at chevelles.com with the 60122 with afr 195's in 383's, and the things just flat out move.
i also think my dual plane holley intake is holding me back, and my carb is still not tuned correctly.
it dyno'd those numbers through a 4spd muncie with a 8.2 10 bolt rear, xpipe and moroso race mufflers.
im actually thinking of sending the heads out to get ported to around a 190cc intake runner.
either cam would work awesome for you, the 60121, and 60122. the cam gear pin comes sticking out real far, and i believe if you need to, you can buy a longer one.
you wont be disappointed with either cam and your heads.

The one I remember dynoing was the VooDoo 60120, the 262/270 cam vs the Xtreme Energy 264HR. The VooDoo was 211/219 at .050, the 264HR was 212/218. The VooDoo lift was a little higher, and LSA was 112 vs 110.
From 5000 to 5600 the VooDoo averaged 10 BHP higher that the 264HR.
From 3200 to 4200 the VooDoo averaged 8 ftlbs torque higher that the 264HR.
But the best news was at 2500, where the VooDoo had 30 ftlbs torque MORE than the 264HR. It was 20 ftlbs more at 2800, and 3" more vacuum at idle.
With 9:1 CR, the 270 VooDoo is as big as I would run, and it works with 3.23 RAR.
Computer simulation programs assume that all cams flow air the same way, but they do not. If they did, one company's 300*, .500" lift cam would make power like another's. They don't.
A computer simulation program that gave an accurate Horsepower/torque curve would be similar to those used by the major car manufacturers, and would require the exact cam/valve lift curves, not just a couple of numbers.

I would have loved to go with the bigger cam but living in California the DMV likes to try and castrate anything that was ever meant to perform. So emissions is why I went with that cam, it is supposedly the biggest one that will pass the sniff check, I am already having to slip the smog dude a crisp hundred dollar bill to pass me on the visual inspection because of the headers.

Most published rpm ranges are wrong when applied to the LT1 because the LT1 intake shifts the rpm range up a good bit.
Only trust rpm ranges when it is an experianced shop specifically stating it is for the LT1.
Looks like it would be worth trying, just like said be prepared to take it to 6300 or so.
