Is this typical?

and i also have the 555R's i think series 1 and my buddies got series 2, and ive got 245's as i woulda had to wait for the 275's for a week and my car is my DD.
but at the track they grip well just gotta heat em up, and on the street it is pretty tough to burn them unless im really trying they just grip and go!
ohh and just thought i'd mention, i drive my 555R's everyday in the rain and everything, and havent had any traction problems to date, also forgot to mention my girlfriend DD's my car as well sometimes, and she has never complained about traction in the rain either, and yea she knows alot about cars and understands why the tires arent as good in the rain.
i highly reccomend the tires especially if they are on a DD.
ohh and to the OP, youre M3 [which i love beamers so dont say im hating] just cant match the low end torque of our boat anchors.
i mean check that thread about the dude pulling a wheel with just CAI and Catback! GTFO thats effin sweet.
Your problem is th age and quality of the tire you currently have.
My last set of tires were 275-40-17 and they were Cooper 2XS zeon tires. These were some really bad *** tires and did not cost an arm and a leg. Paid $125 each about 4 years ago. With 4.10's and only 300RWHP (at the time) they would barely break loose in 1st gear if at all in warm weather. Cold weather all bets are off no matter what the tire. Once they reached 50% wear they started getting slick plus i now have 412 RWHP which does not help.
I recently bought a set of 285-40-17 Firehawk wide ovals to replace the Coopers. I dont yet know how well they work due to winter climate but I expect them to work well. Plus the 285 is almost 1/2" wider than the 275 tire.
Get some quality tires:
Cooper 2XS zeon
BFG KDW or sports
Firehawk wide-oval
Nitto 555
Goodyear GSD3 if you are a millionaire.
With the mods in your sig, you are around 280 RWHP or so. With 3.42's you should have no problem getting traction with the tires above.
