Final Opinions: 383 Cam
Looking to swap out my 230/236 544/555 112lsa cam in my LT1 for a more suitable cam this winter. Motor is as follows:
383ci LT1 block
Eagle Crank
Speedpro Pistons
Speedpro Rings
Stock Rods
Clevite 77s
Heads are ported stock castings. Flow numbers (28"H2O) are:
lift int exh
100 76 68
200 132 112
300 188 138
400 236 166
500 264 188
550 274 196
600 280 204
Intake was also mildly ported. I am also getting a 58mm TB to go with all this.
What cam setup would you guys recommend? Any power estimates? Also, what size injectors should i run? I feel like my 30#s will not be sufficient. Thanks guys

Pretty close to the setup I'm running. I would talk to AI about a cam to match the heads you are running. 30# injectors will be way to small. Look along the lines of 42# injectors. Also it would help to know what your goals are for the motor so we can send you in the right direction cam wise

Car will be a DD, but if it breaks i always have my expedition. However i would like to drive it as much as possible.
Motor goals: Since its not forged, and i have a high CR, I dont plan to run any sort of FI or nitrous. i plan to make the most power i can with a new cam this winter, and then over the summer maybe build up a new shortblock built for FI.
so basically, i need someone to point me in the direction of a cam that will help me get the most out of my current setup

I agree with the above, but just wondering are you running the 230/236 right now in your 383? The only thing you're looking to change at this point is the cam? If so, what do you feel are the shortcomings of the cam in your setup? Are you happy with the RPM range it makes its power?
My only experience with that cam is in a stock shortblock (with ported heads) and it was impressive. I would imagine the extra 33ci would really make it a beast.

Yeah, I agree to seek the advice of the companies who do custom stuff.... This is where most will blow it in their builds...I would suggest something in the 220/230 range...about .570" lift and the lsa is up for debate on whether ud put a big nitrous shot on it or not...My motor is all N/A with similar head specs to yours and I run a Joe Overton custom 226/234 .568 lift on a 111 lsa and it kicks *** on the street and at the track...I drive mine everywhere and it runs with and past most of the larger cammed guys...cam, converter and rear gear will be critical...
