Yeah it may have already been done.... HOWEVER you figure that someone who did it had to have the help of the net at some point..... So if someone did it and didn't want ANY recognition for it that would be strange.... can't see spending that much cash to get there and then going "I don't want anyone to know"... But I guess to each his own..

Vince ran a 9.08 and then I believe experienced core shift of the block. Taner is VERY close as well.... he's been chipping away at ET for years now and is definitely a baller when it comes to the LT1...

The dude up in bandimere that holds the current record hurt the motor IIRC. Don't know how long it will be down as I know he wanted to take it to vegas for SCSN and get the record there. His screen name is stroked30th.

Jeff Gilbert is supercharged w/nitrous on top, so different class of car. He'd be only the 3rd person in the 8's tho... haven't heard anything from him in awhile.

And Tony hit his car with a pretty big shot (250 hp) HOWEVER he was without second gear..... so his 9.56 would have been probably at least a few tenths quicker.... I'd say prolly 9.30's on a 250 hit with 2nd gear workin.... that's where i'm at now roughly if I can get a clean pass with out a bumper dragger...

my 6.05 in the 1/8th, I coasted at 800' to a 9.54 but it was far from an optimal pass. I was pedaling the **** out of it to keep the nose down and accidentally shut off the nitrous till 2.5 seconds into the run... ooops.....

My car goes to the shop after christmas for some cage mods and to get ready for the parachute mount and adjustments to the front/rear weight bias.... at that point we are ready to step it up to the GIGANTA-SHOT..... 375-400hp by our current jet spread.... we think that'll be more than enough for an 8.80 sumthin...

Ive been dumping all of my money into the new shop. I have engine and brakes and most suspension. I need about 15k to finish it the way i want.

Fran step up jesus! lol j/k

good luck to all that are going for the record... whoever does it even fi they arn't first will still be quite a feat!... Jason (outlawZ) has my vote... just cuz it seems like he is working steadily at it... i think it just comes down to who gets their car done first.... i think all the contenders will eventually get 8's tho

the f'n snow is keepin' me down , lol!!! and honestly my car is in a different class. it is a pump gas motor, with a t56. car has wipers, a radio, and gets over 20 mpg on the highway as well vince and stroked ss were/are both carbed right?

i firmly believe my car with an auto had the potential to achieve that goal 2 years ago, but oh well i am too dumb to slap an auto in there takes the fun out of driving it 2 hrs to the track to bust of some killer et's and drive it home.

power to whomever gets there first.

Taner everybody knows you're a TH350 away from doing it. You'd lose a bit of MPH but I think you'd still easily have enough power to do it....

yeah vince and stroked30th are carbed. I'm still injected.... I have run my car on pump gas to putt putt around cause my motor is only around 12:1 but we have **** GAS here in cali with 91 octane being the max so I don't risk it at all when at the track....

and yeah i definitely believe all the guys involved will eventually break the record. Taner's there, stroked just needs to fix his stuff and get to sea level, tony working out his bugs and motor stuff and get back out.... I appreciate the votes guys. All i have working for me is that I have the weather with me (as it's still like 50-60 here on some days) and both tracks here are at sealevel.... I just haven't been flying as much at all and my extra cash fund dries up quick when the flying goes away (I'm in the air force)..... Missions are supposed to pick up again for me in January so i'll be back at it. shortly after santa puts his fat *** back in the north pole...

So...all that being said, how much does it really cost for 9s? If I have to ask, I can't afford it.

everything total.... probably looking at at least 20K..... I figured about 10K for the motor with all the bells and whistles.... about 2G's for a good tranny and converter if you get it used and cheap... looking at 3-4K for suspension/tires.... if you went carb you'd have to get a good carb for about 1K.. remaining fuel injected you'd need a good aftermarket engine mgmt system or a GREAT tune.... that's about 2K. nitrous system about 1K at least....

You'd easily be at the 20 grand mark without including the price of the car and associated labor...

Not too shabby. I figured it would be close to that.

Tony was on a 200 shot at the time with no 2nd gear and no trans-brake with a new suspension that was not yet dialed in. Lots of limiting factors on that run so it's hard to say what it would have been. All he has to to is drop his 60' to where it should be (1.3's or so) and that alone would put him right around 9.0's even on the old setup.

The new setup will be hit with a much bigger shot and the suspension will be dialed in and I have to think 8's are inevitable in early '09.

Ill take it in this order:

stroked30th
Shepherd
Taner

Dave DiLuca's old car is ripping hard down south, I guess the owner has it moving and plan on going faster.

Tony.

8's are so 2003.........7's the new 8's

My list would be Stroked 30th if he came off the mountain.

Followed closely by.

Tony Shepard should be the first of the other regulars.

You are right about that Chris about 8's... but just like in outlaw drag radial the nitrous guys are having trouble keeping up with the turbo/procharger cars...

Good luck getting a nitrous LT1 even CLOSE to 7's.... it'd knock the bearings clean out of the block...... I think 8.50 is the fastest a nitrous LT1 will ever go... And that is assuming it had lexan/fiberglass everything and weighed in at like 2900-3000lbs with driver....

I'll eventually go single turbo (94mm) as my next setup but I want to have fun with this setup now and hopefully run some 8's...
