4l60e ?? converter ?? ive looked at a bunch of post on here about installing a torque converter and people mentioned that if the the converter wasnt far enough in it would mess up the pump and the car would go into gear would that happen instantly or would it take time ?? are there any other ways to know if its NOT in far enough i know after market converters with a higher stall are smaller then the stock but i just wanna make sure dont want to take that transmission out again
You'll feel basically 3 "stages" of engagement onto the pump.
I don't see how people can mess this up. On almost all converter installs I've done (quite a few) after you mate the transmission to the engine and bolt it up, you usually have to pull the converter out a little bit to mate to the flexplate.

when i pulled the motor and tranny before when i put the stock converter back in it mated up perfectly no issues but i was just wondering because it a smaller converter its come out more then the stock converter
