Default A.I.R. and E.G.R. help please

I'm going to be buying my pacesetter longtubes pretty soon and was wondering if it's ok to delete the air and egr. I will have the engine out so i though if i did delete them now would be the best time. I really want the clean look and would like to delete them, but i have heard that deleting the egr will cause detonation issues. I have a 1993 lt1 so it's the speed density style.I know the air is no problem because i'm not running cats, I just dont wanna screw anything up, and you cant buy the headers with only egr. I am also doing a cam swap (228/235 LE cam), and will have cai, 24lb injectors, and a pcmforless tune. Info is greatly appreciated, thanks!!

i deleted my a.i.r. with out any issues, definatly make sparkplugs easier, the only PITA part was removing the metal tube that runs under the motor and connects the two sides, i left that in there, also i had a hell of a time finding a m22x1.5 drain plug to plug the two a.i.r. ports in the pacesetter headers, i ended up jb quick'ing in two m20 drain plugs to cap off the holes for now.

Go to a Plumbing store, they have some that are almost dead on, use a little JB Weld if your scared I just used a little Thread sealer and they have been snug no problems.

Ok, im going to buy race pacesetter longtubes, so they wont have air or egr holes. What i want to know is will the engine run right if it has no egr. I'v heard they will have detonation issues, is it true? I will have it programmed and a bigger cam, i'v heard this helps. The lt4 dident have egr because of it's cam and the cam i will be using is bigger than the hotcam the lt4 had.

You'll be fine without the EGR, especially if your having it tuned afterwards. You may throw a check engine light before you get it tuned but thats just because it's looking for it and its not there. You can do a quick search on the EGR delete if your still concerned about it...lots of people delete it.

Do it. No harm was ever done by deleting EGR and AIR
