Thats a very subjective question so your going to hear a million different opinions. I would search on youtube and ls1sounds and whatnot and listen to them all, thats what I did and it helped alot. As for clearance you should be fine with all the popular choices people go with such as Powersticks, Sweet Thunders, Dynomax and Magnaflow Bullets, Flowmaster Single Chambers, Moroso Spiral Flows etc. etc.

I dont have sound clips, but you'll just have to trust me...The Edelbrock SDT 304 stainless mufflers sound awesome, and are only 3 5/8" thick in their 3" size...They tuck up nice and tight and flow enough to have a few local guys in the 8s and 9s with them...And they are not too obnoxiously loud..Nice, but not too much...I run them and love 'em...

Knock-off Flowmaster single chambers here. ~$60 for the pair shipped, from eBay. I used to have clearance issues, when the video was taken. But, since then, I had them moved back and the piping tucked up. A better shop should be able to tuck them up under the back seats better than my shop did though.

From my take,
bullets and spiral flows will be deep and loud but pretty raspy up top, some may disagree though.
Flowmasters will have that "tinny" sound to them and be less raspy and just sound like, well flowmasters
Powersticks and sweetthunder mufflers sound kinda in between a flowmaster and a bullet to me.
Ive had spiral flows and 1 chambers on my car and the spiral flows sounded better at WOT but sounded shitty when cruising and idling. My 1 chambers are a lot smoother at low rpms but dont sound as good as the spiral flows at wot. I have 2.5 inch duals dumped at the rear with no crossover.
