That's like how the 1998 LS1's do it. I never knew you could adapt one for the LT1, good stuff. Then you could use the broken Sensor to plug the Head.

Exactly. My broken sensor is just plugging my head haha.

Quoted from that site:

Black=PCM sensor ground
Yellow=coolant signal to PCM
Dark Green=to Gauge

I suppose with knowing the black, it really wouldn't matter which wire went to which reader (computer/gauge) would it?

Alright everyone just fyi, I took the advise to ask for the temp sending unit and they had one in stock right away. If your's breaks in the driver's side head it's a temp sending unit to local parts stores.

Hey i have a 1990 chevy truck with a 350 my temp gauge always has read hot so i replaced the temp sensor, the one that screws into the side of the driver side head, the new sensor comes with 2 wires , i screwed it in, the guy at parts store told me to ground the second wire to the block, so i did this, i turn key on first time since i owned the truck i saw temp gauge go from hot, to cold then back to hot,, now when truck gets to idle speed or warms up my check engine light comes on, ,, i am thinking he gave me the wrong sensor,, my old sensor had one port for the one wire,going to it any suggestions?

The water pump sensor is 2 prong.

They are both called sensors in the GM parts book.

Do you have a part number for this one prong sensor?

That sensor, plug and single wire take a beating from heat from exhaust/engine. The sensor had a heat shield sleeve over it and the wire for connector had at least grey stripe split loom and/or also covered with heat wrap tube.

After 22 years my connector got brittle and broke and the wire was VERY heat fatigued so bought the pigtail and spliced it in and used heat wrap tube I got at Summit to go over that wire

I've gotten a lot of good advice from you. I just kinda waited to the last minute to try to figure this one out.
