Default Heads Noise???

From what i can hear so far it seems to be a tick coming from the passenger side head...its a slight ticking noise but seems the higher the rpms the fast the noise...problem is its been to cold to tear the valve cover off and see whats it coming from.any ideas guys
iv been told it could be a lifter or a loose rocker
and as far as i know theres been no work to the heads
btw its a 97 ws6

Could be lifter, rocker, or gasket at header/manifold.

i had a small ticking that sounded like it was coming from that area. then i had to drive it 200 miles to get home, and the ticking got louder and louder. it turned out to be a spun rod bearing.
