Default LT1 project info...

I am getting ready to swap an LT1 into my 91 RS. I am gonna have a B&M 2500 stall converter and was wondering about how large a cam I can run with this converter. Can I get away with say a CC305, or should I stay around like the 218/224 area? I am gonna be running a 3.42 gear eventually, and have typical bolt-ons like headers and cutout, eventually 1.6 rockers, but 1.5's for now. Any help is greatly appreciated!

well you're gonna wanna look at more than just duration numbers, especially LSA

I definately wouldn't go lower than a 112LSA

in all honesty your best bet is just picking upa new convertor, don't pick your cam based on a stall, pick your stall based on a cam. also B&M is a pretty junk company when it comes to stalls

I don't see a cc503 having a horrible time with that convertor though but it definately won't be efficient

what gears do you have now btw?

I know a 2500 stall wont be much better than stock, but thats why I want it. Its $100 from a friend who ran it with a hotcam and did well with it. My car isnt gonna be a strret racer or weekend drag machine, just something for me to drive around and enjoy. I want a choppy *** idle, but I want the car decently drivable. I drove an LS1 car with a TREX everyday, so, some roughess is liveable. I know it wont be ideal for any cam, but I just want something that sounds great, and will work ok with this converter. I started to look for the GM847 cam before, but that may be overkill...HAHAHA!!

Why????

The stock b-body cam is 111. You know those Caprices and Roadmasters all have a narly idle.

Lots of cams will be fine with a 2500 stall, BUT performance wise you would be further ahead to put fresh springs on keep the existing cam and get a good converter.

If you pick say a Crane 227(214/224) or the Lingenfelter 211/219 you would be further ahead than the 305 cam.
