Default 4l60 guys

Will a 4l60 out of a 96 impala work for an 94 f body if you change the tail housing. I think the electronics are all the same. Thanks guys!

94 95 and 96 are actually each a little different.

Your 94 wont control the PWM.

I do believe you can make things work but it is not a simple plug and play.

I believe you have to retune ithe PCM to a manual in order to use the 4L60/700R4, not 100% on that though.

That might be meaningful information if he were looking to use a 93 or earlier tranny but he is trying to put a 95 tranny in a 94 car. He just forgot the E at the end of 4L60E.

And people may be able to help better if others knew more about what they were asking At least, that's probably what you would have told me

On topic: I wouldn't have guessed the B-Body's used a different tail housing, or do not all the 2wd housings have torque arm provisions?

yeah the tailshaft only has the tourqe arm provision on the f body transmissions...easy swap tho..also what i did with my 95 tranny that i was swapping for my 94 is just swap the wire harness. Of course i didnt hear about the pmw difference till after the swap and drove it. I believe it wouldnt go into overdrive or something ..been a while..lol but just swap the harness in the pan.

Thanks good to know. Is there anyway to tell what year trans you have? My buddy got this trans at a swap meet and the guy he bought it off of said it was out of a 95 impala. Its definately not from a f-body no tourqe arm provisions.

Yea, NO one puts older transmissions (or even engines) into newer vehicles. So back at'cha

On a sincere note: At the bottom right corner of every post, there's a button labeled "Quote", which lets you make a reply like mine (or the others) where it shows what the person said. Figure it'd save you having to type out the person's name and then paste in what we said, unless you type it ALL in, then this'll make things a lot easier heh.
