Ring gap for nitrous motor
I have run .035 top and .030 ring end gap on a SBC with cast pistons and a 250 direct port. It never popped a ring land but it was Dyno time only. I would try for .030". Your best bet it to call the ring manufacture and get there advice.
Its like .006 or.007 X bore diameter for the top ring
And .0065 to .0075 X bore diameter for the second ring.
I would Google it or the best thing would be to call the ring maker.
If the instructions with the rings do not have what I put above or something similar you need to buy a ring that does.
It was a UTI engine in hot rod class. So it was what ever heat range plugs they had plus what ever timing the "Group decided on" Gas that could have been 85 but was supposed to be 93. I just didn't want to pop a piston. I didn't care about a little blowby. I do agree though that was very conservative. The motor did 220 hp on the dyno all stock and 480 blowing through the trans and leaking fluid all over the dyno. So i dont think it hurt hp.
