Sound diagnosis, knocking?

Well I started pulling stuff apart on this car today, still haven't found him a suitable long block yet though, haven't priced out what it would cost to freshen up his short block yet either. Most motors around here all have high mileage and needing a rebuild.
Any affordable LT1s around Tampa anyone? I guess a fresh shortblock is OK, was hoping for a longblock or complete motor. His waterpump is shot also, who knows how long that one has been on there, motor has 168k and some shady **** by the previous owner I found today.

You can buy a 0-mile, BRAND NEW LT4 shortblock from Powertrain Products. It's the exact same thing I got. For $1000, plus $100 for truck shipping.

He bought them surplus from a GM warehouse that closed up. Just bolt on your heads and everything else if they are in good shape, and there you go. The motor is exactly as listed, 4-bolt main shortblock and it is stamped 12/22/1997
