Little black box

What is the little black box behind and to the right of the hood latch? It is about 2 inches by 2 inches give or take. I am shaving weight, can I do without it.

Sounds like the airbag module. If you want airbags, don't get rid of it.

+1 sounds like airbag impact module. prooooobably shouldnt delete that.
