Default Help picking boost cam????

I have a 1997 trans am; car has a 355ci forged LT1, 9:0:1 compression, P1SC procharger with 3.40 pulley (12-14psi not sure how much it will make yet), 42lbs injectors, electronic ignition, headers, 3in exhaust, and a few other mods.

I have stock heads, but want to put springs and a cam.

Question: What cam will do me best and why?

I know I want to have 114 seperation but what about intake to exhaust valve duration? Do I want a single plane or dual? (like 224/224 114)

I just want it too go . .. . I have looked at many cams, but I am totally not sure on which one to go with.

thanks for viewing,
Buzz

One of the biggest restrictions will be the heads. Get them ported if you really want to see some power.

This is the specs for the TR blower cam for a LS1, I know LT1's are different, but this might give you some insight:

"TR Blower" - 214/230 .601/.579 117 LSA. Off Idle-6800 RPM Power Band. Broad power range. Different from our CheaTR with even less valve overlap for forced induction applications. Stock like idle. Due to the fast ramp rate of this camshaft, the use of 1.8 rockers is not recommended. Double valve springs and titanium retainers required for this cam.

I would post in the Forced Induction sub forum, you'll probably get MUCH better answers there.

ported heads will give you more power but I can get decent power with them unported. I just want to be in the mid-500bhp. at 8psi and before block work I was at 483bhp.
117 seperation seems pretty large, why go with that over 114 or 115?

But I really need the help on the best intake/exhaust valve duration for the cam.

The large LSA is for less overlap, aka, blowing less boost out through the exhaust. You want a wide LSA for FI.
Another thing you might like to know, one of the best budger blower cams for a LSx engine is the LS6 cam, which has a 117 LSA. But like I said, those are cam specs for a LS1 which is different, but the theory is still the same.

I would definetly definetly definetly get a custom grind for a car like yours. I would contact Lloyd Elliot, Advanced Induction, Bret Bauer or Ed Curtis (whoever you prefer) and see what they can do for you. $300 shipped for a custom grind from Lloyd cannot be beat as a $260 off-the shelf will not even compare with a setup like yours.

I know the cc305 is a pretty decent boost cam but I'd say go custom

Give the guys at SpeedInc. a call. They know a thing or two about boosted motors.
