I'm thinking of this cam and have a few questions.
1) is anyone running this on a wider LSA like 112 or 114 and how is it.
Thing is I dont like a big nasty idle. Kinda prefer to keep it stealthy until you dump the cutouts
2) I am at high altitude (6000ft) and I wonder how that plays into my cam choice. I'm thinking this altitude might like a little higher duration to get as much air in as it can lol.
Car will have AZSM LT's and Borla cat back.
Is there possibly a smaller cam that will idle mildly (some lope is ok but not crazy) and still make good power on the street?
Car will pull wknd/track duty, not so much a DD.
Thanks
Greg

That cam does not have a crazy idle. Certainly not stock but nothing wild.
First national event I went to with the car setup as it is the "Impala gurus" were comparing the sound to the HOT or Crane 227 cams. Just use a good tuner.
Maybe this will help you out a little. http://www.babcox.com/editorial/ar/eb90252.htmBasically
Your belief that 110 is somehow radical is based on the huge amounts of bad information that are out there.

im going to be running a LE 223,230 @112 and .560 lift. and the idle should be really nice, nothing crazy like the 847. but itll def give the impression of a cam. i would stick at 112 lsa. or talk it over with the guys at AI. they know there ****.

Seeing your @ 6000ft., you'll just need a good tune with that cam, the wider the LSA, the smoother the idle will be (better vacuum signal), plus it spreds out the overall power band, a shorter LSA tightens up the torgue curve, gives a choppier idle (less manifold vacuum), my advice is to contact Lloyd Elliott, he will spec you out a cam that will fit your needs.

A Friend and I put that cam in his Firehawk last summer with the full Ai head/intake set up. You can tell it's there but it was totally driveable, With good tuning. On the freeway I was purposely trying to lug it down to see how it would react. in 6th gear @1100rpms I mashed the gas. it just pulled to 100 without missing a beat. The car is a totally streatable beast. he hopes to dyno it this spring.
Hope this helps.

The lope/chop or what ever else people have named it these days is not because of lobe seperstion alone you have to look at the duration at .050
If you take our stock camshaft and add duration too say 226/234 it would make the stock cam lope...it would then be similar to an old Duntov 30/30 or the legendary "3/4 race cam"lol sound..... camshafts are just like females, theres are a million out there but only a few that fit your application properly

Comes down to opinion as far as what constitutes nasty I guess. That and there are a LOT of poorly tuned cars out there, tuning makes a HUGE difference.
Just being able to hear a cam does not make it nasty IMO.
You guys have it stuck in your heads that 110 is radical, look at the link I posted above, it is not radical.
