Default LT1 overheating

my LT1 is overheating again....only when i beat the **** outa it though....i can leave it running for 6 1/2 hrs w/o turning it off(sometimes i have to for my job) and it wont overheat. Only when i go out having fun with it does it do it(beat the **** outa it). i changed the waterpump(due to splines on the coupling being worn), thermostat, replaced all hoses and checked the radiator out and its not plugged....i am bout ready to give up on the car due to all the problems i've been having with it....

have you had the sys flushed?
maybe its clogged just enough to were when you drive it normal its fine....but after high rpms and heat, it doesnt have enough circulation to keep cool?

look and see if the black part is there. underneath the car. it rubs when pulling up on curbs and ****. if that thing is gone theres no way it can get enough air.
is there anything restricting the rad?

something is wrong with the car, cause even in phoenix, after beating on my car the heat rises a little but never over 205. maybe try getting an aftermarket tune to have the fans turn on sooner, and what temp thermostat are you running and what area of the country do you live in?

i live in miami florida and i have the stock 180 therm in it(i had a 160 in it but it still overheated) what i am wondering if its possible that the splines on the waterpump shaft(the shaft in the block) could be worn just enough that when i rev the motor high it doesnt move the waterpump as needed. i mean i dunno just a thought....at this point im all outa ideas...

I went through the same situation and a new waterpump took care of it for me. I took apart the old one and the new one to see if there was a difference in the blades and the old one was corroded bad. I could def see why it wouldn't pump like a new one. Hope that helps.
