I'm using a ud pulley now only cause I brought years ago and I needed to use the drivebelt. Only thing I've noticed is at idle when trying to steer it's a bit sluggish until u give it some gas other than that I don't feel any power gains at all !

It is not lighter unless you want to destroy the bearings by leaving the damper off.

The intention with UD pullies is that you are supposed to bolt the stock damper on over them, meaning you are adding weight not reducing.

the damper only will go on one way. but the march and bbk pulleys will set up like this. damper>underdrive pulley>hub. so your adding weight to the nose of the crank. thats why i went to asp and got their pulley cause it has a built in damper in it like stock.

i installed my march underdrive pulley about a year or so ago. all i had to do on mine is remove the belts, then remove the bolts from the pulley on the crank and then the underdrive pulley went on and new longer bolts that came with the pulley go in and put the new belts on. its a march ud pulley and in the directions i did not have to remove the damper. it was fairly straight forward and took me about an hour if that. the only problem i have from it is at idle my voltage gauge drops to about 11.4 or so, but cruising and even the small amount of throttle its back up too about 13.5 or so. and the only gain i felt from it is the revs come up a little faster.

Are you confusing the damper and hub??

The damper is the stock crank pulley to not have to pull it off you would have had to bolt the UD on in front of it and space the whole accesory drive way the hell out to meet the UD pulley.

96capricemgr u could be right. its been so long since i put it on i dont really remember. i know alot about cars and work on them alot. but u might have me there. it been so long i really cant remember. but either way it was a pretty simple install and only takes an hour or so. but any way i dont know if it really is worth it. cause now i got my charging problem, but o well it still runs real good and at cruising it is good, so im not to worried bout it.

buy both the lower and alt pulley. or you will have charging issues at idle. lights will dim at night when you stop at an intersection and brighten when you accelerate.i learned this the hard way, lol!

grn95t/a originally i was going to buy the alt pulley too, but i had heard that that would cause more problems to. im fine with it dropping voltage at idle cause it aint hurtin nothing and its fine cruising and that mostly what i do in the car it doesnt see to much stop and go or idleing around here.

i bought the alt pulley after having the charge issue. went back to normal with no other issues. only ran it for 500 miles though, before i pulled the engine for the rebuild.
