1) Camaro only option (from my knowledge) and ups the line pressure a bit for, as it's name implies, better transmission performance! Which means firmer shifts.

2) Your friend would be an idiot as even TPI cars smoke Mustangs -_- I'm willing to bet even will hang with the new body style 4.6s

Where to look, Craigslist preferably, but if you can find one close by on eBay that you can physically go an inspect it, thats another option. Also check out the For Sale section here, or post in the "Wanted" section.

1.) It's a Pontiac-only option.

2.) Right.

You're right, the Camaros came with it tuned "always on". I was getting that part mixed up with the Ponchos.

I'd be interested to know if anyone has actually done any investigation in to the claim that Z28s are always in "performance mode." There is no doubt that the button does slightly raise shift points in Pontiacs which I'm sure is easily seen in the transmission tables. Can anyone verify similar data in a Z28/SS?

The origin of the statement that "Camaros are always in performance mode" is from the 4th Gen FAQ - who knows if that statement was validated with an actual investigation? Anyone want to try it?

I don't think it is true. The few auto LT1 Z28s I have driven had pretty tame shifts. I do know what it is supposed to feel like BTW, I had a 1995 TA convertible.

pretty much anyone with tuner cats can figure this question out since there are tables for standard and performance mode, if both the camaro tables have the same values as the trans am performance table then yes

I had a buddy that had a 1994 pontiac trans am and it had this performance button, but i have never seen one on a camaro thats why you have to use the Hypertech Power programmer to boost the line pressure in the Camaro's.
