quick rear end question
when i bought my car about 7000 miles ago it had a brand new eaton posi and brand new GM 3.73 gears put in. im wondering how strong my rear end would be comparable to a 12 bolt or 9"...ive heard the stock fbody rear ends can blow on just one brakestand so i just want to make sure my car can make it through the season (10-15 track days) without having to worry about my rear end going

I'm going to have to disagree. 15 track days is 3 to 4 times a month and probably 45 to 60 passes. It only takes one solid hook. While he isn't heavily modded, the constant hard launching can gradually weaken the ring gear. I wouldn't say he shouldn't worry, but it is something to definitely keep on the front burner. It's solely based on chance.

I have close to 100 passes on my 10 bolt with a LPW girdle and easily half those were with ET street and flashing my 3200 vig stall... You'll be alright, and if not pick up an extra 10 bolt, i got one in my garage and another lined up i can get...

You should be fine if your car is automatic. I have been doing low 1.6 short times on my 10 bolt for a couple years now and I go to the track quite a bit. It is all stock with 3.42s and a Torsen carrier because I kept wearing out the clutch packs in the factory Auburn posi units. Car weighs 3600lbs with me in it. 1.60 on its good days 1.62-1.63 on its bad days.
I do have a spare, but have yet to need it.
