If you have a '96 that used TTY headbolts you MUST replace them once the are removed.
Now, that being said, go buy some nice ARP headbolts and torque them to 70ft/lbs (the 'old' spec was 65ft/lbs, but ARP revised that about this time last year).
If you are using new ARP bolts, I suggest torquing them in 3 stages; don't go 70 ft./lbs. all at once.
First pass 23 ft./lbs.
Second pass 45 ft./lbs.
Third pass 70 ft./lbs.
95 TA is right though - DON'T reuse TTY bolts!
Torque-to-yield for head bolts
All bolts first pass = 22 lb. ft.
Second pass:
Long and medium bolts additional 80°
Short bolts additional 67°
You will need a torque wrench and a torque/angle meter (such as the Lisle 28100 below). Unlike stock type bolts, if you buy the ARP bolts, you can reuse them and you can still use the torque/angle method of tightening (or you can just use the straight torque only method).
