Default New 396 intake question

My new project is coming along now.
But I have hit a snag. Could someone let me know what the centre fitting is for. There is nothing on the original motor that fits here.
Do I need this, if not what fitting do I need to blank it.
TIA guys.
Will post more pics of install (motor, trans & rear as per sig) soon.
