Is the head worth repairing?

Hey guys I have a head that might have a small crack in it. Coolant is coming out of the 4th hole back to hold the headers in. Would it be better to get it fixed or just buy some new heads? A few places said that the quote could be anywhere form $80-200. I have seen a used set of heads go for less than that. Also the head has almost 157k on it. What would you guys do?

First you need to determine if you actually have a crack (you say you might have a crack).

If you do have head damage, I'd take no chances and pick up another good head. Then again, that's me. I'm sure others will disagree.

+1 get it tested to see if its the head. if so find out where its cracked. id try to get it fixed if it isnt so bad. but if worse comes to worse get darts

Yea, if it is definitely the head, you can get a good used set of lower mileage heads or upgrade for a little more if you want rather than drop $200 on just repairing the ones you have. If you decide to repair yours, I would at the very least upgrade everything and port/port match/etc.

Stock heads I would look at getting another one. Modified head look into getting it repaired.

I have a set of 94 LT1 heads in my garage. Has around 8x,xxx miles on them, if I remember correctly. They are still on the engine, but I might be able to get around to pulling them off very soon. If you find out that you have a cracked head, and want to replace them, shoot me a pm. I'll sell you mine. They should match up despite the years, if I remember right (been 4 years since I fooled with a LT1).
