Default How to install the Hub

I have a problem with my 97ss my hub is coming off so it is crooked and wanted to know what size is the thread where the crank bolt goes or is there any kind of way or tool that would make this easier to push back in.

7/16-20 is the crank thread. You can make an install tool from high grade threaded rod, nuts and washers.

+1, that's what I did. Key words is high grade. A regular threaded rod and nuts will likely snap or strip. You can also heat up the hub a little, it helps to put it on.

I boil them in water to get them a good part of the way on. Reason I boil is because it limits heat to roughly 212f which is not hot enough to damage the seals.

Build your own, like Shoebox said. Here's a good write-up that I used. Makes hub installation a breeze. I used the bearing from a classic SBC harmonic balancer install kit with it.
