1993 vs 1994-97
hello ive been out of the F body scene for a few years and am getting back into it. i know 93's are speed density vs using a MAF, but what other differences are in 93s vs the other LT1 years. i remember 93-95 are OBD1 and single cat. i already asked about the different tranny ratios in the tranny section but what other differences throughout the car are only in the 1993 year?

The intake manifolds, fuel rail and fuel injectors are different for 93.
The intake does not have the fuel rail cossover trought you can see on all the other LT1 intakes, the rail has the crossover in rear and is considered the least desirable. The injectors are 22lbs where later years they used 24lbs.
I believe the O2 is NOT heated meaning slower warmup to closed loop.

optispark isn't vented in 93 and 94. also the optispark drive mechanism is different, 93 is splined as is the 94. 95 up is a dowel. the rear end ratios are different too. could only get 2.73, 3.08 and 3.23. but thats easily changed versus putting a completely different timing cover and all that stuff on for the opti. now that i think of it i think the oil pan capacity is a half quart lower than the later lt1 models.

93s have a different throttle body to be used with a TV cable for the non-electronically controlled 4L60 A4 transmission.
Additionally the AIR system is slightly different.
Not to mention the use of an EPROM.

damn. thanks guys. F*ck a 93. i could never live with myself having a yellow cluster. ha! im sticking with a 95. i had a 95 TA. how rare are 95's with a hard top and crank windows? mainly i just need a hard top as complete doors with crank windows could be taked from another car. also when i left the scene msd had just came out with thier complete opti, how did that work out? so the 95's have the MM6 transmission correct? with the higher torque rating? and closer 1st through 4th gears apparently?

i'd say get a 96, that way you get dual cats. unless you're gonna put headers on it and take off the cars, otherwise you could reuse them and run duals out the back. 285/335 stock rating for 96.

The 94-97 have the same ratio T56 as far as I know. 93 did too but also have an optioned trans with different ratios.
Had I known what I do now, I'd advise to get a 95, you get the best of the newer ones and still are OBD1

I like my 95 LT1 T/A but it is upsetting because the diagnostics is OBDI but it uses the OBDII port (nicknamed OBD 1.5). So, that means, I have to buy a very specific OBD I/II scanner. I am still looking for a decent scanner for my 95 but I just refuse to pay $250+ dollars!

I have a '93 and it is just different. I can get the same power I just have take a path less traveled by the other 4th gen F-body guys because it's like a Frankenstein...part third gen, part 4th gen. At the end of the day, it depends what you're going to do with the car. If it is going to be modded to the sky, it doesn't really matter as you will change everything no matter what it came with stock. I like the OBDI though for sure :-)

Several companies offer datacables for $45+(I like pcmperformance) and then buy Datamaster for $90 lets you do much more than see codes, lets you view all the engine and tranny data.
