Interesting, seems like you could just buy some wild SBC heads and get similar results, but very interesting. I bet lots of $$$$ for that type of a setup.

Yeah that block was in the new product showcase on here about 3 months ago or so. You need the block which is around 2000 plus a kit with a valley tray to run a distributor, and the ls heads which is around 500...and ls pistons. You can use a sbc timing set, oil pump, distributor, connecting rods and crank. Don't think it will work for the lt1, I always wanted to know if it would take the accessories from it and the front timing cover...anyone that knows or would like to try it out please post

Unless you've been living under a rock you know that the LS1tech search function is the worst search engine known to man.

LOL, they even went through the effort of adding a message telling you how to use the search function effectively...instead of just changing the search back to the old functionality...when it actually worked, lol.

Seems like you would be better off just buying/fabricating some custom motor mounts and mounting a complete LS engine inside of whatever car you have instead of buying that block...

EDIT: Well I didnt think about the cylinders as aluminum LS blocks are limited to bore size...but that's what iron LSx blocks are for.

There is no market for this, IMO they wasted their time. If you wann build a 15* headed 400+ inch Gen 1, buy a stock GM 4 bolt block and aftermarket heads. Or a Dart little M block for much less money.

You wanna build a 400+ inch LSx, 6.0 liter block and heads everywhere.

Someone had cranial rectinitus when this was thought up and developed.

I know, sorry for coming off as such as asshat, maybe I should have just said REPOST and been done with it. Probably would have gotten the same responses though.

Looks like original poster wasn't blindly posting, he directly remarks that this is for a SBC, and isn't sure if there is such a block for LT1. Seems like a reasonable comment, given the similarities of the SBC and LT1, and also the potential for a better breathing top end on an LT1 block - which would certainly have application in this forum. So, I'm not sure whats wrong with the original post, but thats just my $.02.

Now, like everybody else said - this is defintely a waste of time for the builder - there are better/cheaper options out there already then building a goofy hybred block like that. Interesting, yea. Practical, not really.

Seems worth it too me. Especially when they are getting 30hp+ with the gen 1 block over the ls block due to windage. It is a little pricey for the gains tho.

I guess it depends on perspective - if its for a high dollar strict drag car where every last hp matters - and it really delivers better than the alternatives, then I'm sure its the way to go. For the vast majority of us street/strip guys - its not cost-effective, and straight up LSx swap would be the way to go.

I agree, just sayin there is a market for the guys who got to have every last drop of hp out of a combination.
