Hey guys I just bought a 383 Stroker with a lt4 hot cam. I'm going to spray a 150 shot of nos wet... Every now and then maybe 3 days out of a month. It is my "DD" but i do street race often. it might see the track once or twice..l

What spark plugs should i use? Gap 40? I also heard go one colder then stock i think stock is 4? so a 3? i have NKG TR55 v powers will those work?

And what stall should I run? Please help I'm installing it tonight!

Most guys run NGK TR6's for nitrous, and stall converter you are going to want to talk to a reputable stall company and they will direct you as to what stall speed and size would work best for you.

But if you are just want a general stall that is pretty common around here i'd say the SS3600, made by Yank.

The tr55's will work fine.

Do you have any idea of your static/dynamic compression ratio? Most people increase the compression with a rebuild for more HP N/A. I would try and determine your dynamic compression before you go spraying a 150 shot, but that's me.

i would check out the torque curve before jumping on a stall! a person in my hometown is making peak torque only at 3300rpm with a hotcammed 383. i believe you want a stall that right around your peak torque. someone will chime in with better info im sure. but like said before definately talk to the company you are going to buy from and they should guide you in the right place.

Edit: Tr6's are the plug you may look into!

x2 I'd talk to the stall company as well. My mechanic, who's specialty i'd say is auto trannys especially our 4L60E's, he and i spoke about what stall i should get for my car. We went with an Edge Race series 3200rpm stall, as thats what the owner of Edge reccomended. Look at even 96capricemng's set up. . . he is running high 11's in a 4200lb car with only a 3400rpm stall, also from Edge.

I have a feeling many people just think automatically bigger is better, which its not necesarily true. I think using the 3600rpm stall is personally a little high in the rpm range especially for an LT1, but again talk to the stall company and see what they reccomend.

BTW A larger stall if over your peak torque, will only make gas mileage worse, and tranny heat greater.

Good to know...I'm still learning about stalls. Both my cars are 6 speeds.

Yea its just as common as over camming cars. If peak torque is made at like 3400rpms just say, then why have the converter not lock 100% until 3600rpms? thats just silly, you are wasting that torque, and what makes an auto launch so great with an A/M stall is the fact that right when the converter locks 100% you are making full torque.

My car seriously feels like a rocket out of the hole.

But also LS1's have a higher [rpm wise] peak torque, which is why most LS1 guys go with atleast a 3600rpm stall, LT1's are alot different. Hell im sure 96capricemng could explain exactly why. My mechanic went into some quick details and he guessed a 3000rpm stall, Edge came back and said 3200rpm would be perfect for my car after i gave them cam specs, and what my goals for the car would be.

and FWIW i would check out Edge Stall Converters OP, they are about $200 cheaper than Yank, and i'd say work just as well.

Well for brand new, and best quality i'd go with Edge. but thats my own personal prefference.

$525 for a custom built one. Thats exactly what i got.

or like $350 for a mild street stall.
