Default to do or not to do electric water pump

right now i'm in the middle of putting my motor back together and was considering putting a electric water pump in. I'm wondering if its worth it or not? the car is not a daily driver.

Not a DD, DO IT! Well worth it IMO. Plus it's good for another 8-10rwh. Look into the Meziere HD pump. Love mine.

Do it. It offers more than just a HP increase. If you're an avid drag racer, you can run the pump and fans between runs with the engine off to cool the motor down extremely fast (at least until the thermostat closes).

The Meziere requires slight trimming of the fan shroud to clearance the pump motor.

The CSI/R requires minor trimming of the water pump housing (no clearancing to the fan shroud needed) to clear the mounting ears.

Both are very minor basic modifications. I am using the CSR and am pleased with the results. An additional benefit of using an electric water pump is that it also allows for a double roller timing chain. Removal of the water pump drive also supposedly decreases stress on the front cam bearing (not proven, although it would make sense).

Like Ram said, had to trim a little off the fan shroud. Nothing major.

I would say def so if your stock one was needing to be replaced. If not, wait until it goes out to swap the Electric in.

^^ You'll need to have some form of warning system to let you know that your pump has stopped working. Being electric instead of motor driven, it has more of a chance of stop working maybe due to a bad ground or cut wire or something so you'll need something to let you know before it's too late. At least that's what I think is what they mean haha

yeah, i think painless make a relay kit for it. I know some people have it setup that when the pump fails it shuts off the fuel pump so there isnt any damage.
