Thoughts on this rotating assy.
Get the block bored, honed, align honed, magnafluxed, and heat tanked.
Cut/polish the crank.
Recondition the rods, use ARP rod bolts
Get some Mahle hypereutectic pistons or forged aluminum pistons
Get quality bearings and piston rings.
You can reuse your stock pump (assuming oil pressure is still strong), install a GM white springs.
You should have a nice 355 that can handle a LE/Ai heads & cam package no problem.

Stock rods and crankshaft are pretty good for what they are.
Our weak link is the pistons and our rods are pretty good
OP, get a stock short block somewhere, should be cheap. Take it to a machine shop and do what I told you to do in the first place. That will be your cheapest, most reliable option.
