Default Couple last questions

Finishing up my opti install and i have a few last questions. Is it okay if i start the car and run it for a few seconds before i put the water pump on just to make sure that everything with the opti is good? Would only want to make sure that it starts and then i would shut it off. Also, do i have to put any RTV on the water pump gaskets? Light film of oil on the opti seal? Also does it matter which way the water pump coupling goes on? Thanks guys

No Rtv on the gaskets, but do use teflon sealant on the bolts. The coupler is NOT directional, it goes on either way. There should be no problem starting the car without the pump on, as long as the balancer is there and nothing will interfere with the crank or water pump drive.

Yes, thread sealant on the w/p bolts.

The GM diagram shows the grooved side of the w/p coupler to go toward the engine.
