Port Heads or not?
You need to settle down and do more research before buying parts.
Aftermarket MAFs are generally a BAD thing.
Hypertech is a bad thing.
2300 stall is not really a great idea, money would have been better spent on a 2800+ 9.5" unit.
Corvette servo was STOCK on all LT1 cars even Grandma's Roadmaster, so if you paid for that you got screwed.
For 52mm TB I will ONLY recommend rebored stockers since ALL the aftermarket TBs have some issues associated with them and cost more. For 52 or even 54mm a stock TB can be reworked cheaper and wont have the IAC, binding or TPS issues. Once you look at 58mm then you have no choice but to deal with the aftermarket issues.
Not trying to discourage you. I was young once too and made a hell of a lot of mistakes, I wish I had had someone knowledgable to help me avoid some of them.
Thr 503 is a nice cam with complimenting springs and rocker, it will REALLY shine if it has NICE heads to use. Ported heads though can do anything from hurt power to gain even more than the 40hp one poster suggested. Hell I know a guy that swapped from GOOD ported heads he did himself to a set of the same castings done by professional and gained 50rwhp. He basically went from good heads to great heads.
Problem is there are more guys out there doing mediocre work than good or great and there are some doing poor work.
In my old age I have come to realize popularity guarantees nothing but good salesmanship and a cheap price. Popularity is what puts our elected officials in office, do you really think those are good choices??? Same thing applies here.
A lot of the guys with Impalas and f-bodies want to come up with ways to PRETEND the Caprice, Roadmaster, Fleetwood are somehow "lesser" the comments you read came from tha mentality.
Is a constant thorn in the Impala guys sides that the Impala is NOT it's own model, the VIN is a Caprice, the WX3 option code was what made an "Impala". Insurance and titles usually state "Caprice" or "Caprice/Impala", has upset a LOT of Impala owners over the years.

They try and trick the pcm into leaning out WOT a bit because factory tuning is excessively rich. Once the pcm is programmed right they cause at best no gain and at worst problems.
Ed Wright tested the stock MAF on his over 500rwhp car and so single digit gains in deleteing it with perfect tuning before and after. Meaning your car making200+hp less does not need a larger MAF.
