The 16 year old pulled it off! :D I pulled my first engine! Hey guys. Well as many of yall know i have had pretty bad luck with my car since i bought it and ive been very impatient cause im only 16! 
But i pulled my engine! I must say it was the best feeling in the world! 
soo yahh!! i have actually took out the crank and cam and basically only have the block. Just to let you know it was a spun bearing that caused all of this but im actually enjoying this. Me and my dad are spending good time together! Monday the new parts are coming in!: New Crank, Cam, Oil pump, Starter, and like all new bearings and everything needed for a rebuilt engine. Also im buying hooker headers
But i will try to get more pics in soon guys!

Now that I am living 250 miles away my Dad has occassionally talked about buying a project car. Wont be much of a father son thing with that distance between us.

Enjoy it man and learn as much as you can. I wish I was willing to learn at that age but I just wanted the end result. Enjoy the road to the final goal in getting the car back together and it will be much more rewarding. My dad's 60 and we still do all our car work together. I only live 5 minutes away though so it's no biggie. That's really awesome though man that your dad's willing to help out. Most guys have dad's who couldn't care less about car stuff. We did my first motor swap when I was 16 and I didn't learn a thing, so take advantage. My dad still regrets not making me learn back then. Good luck and keep us updated.
Oh and when you're putting it back together the number one thing...clean, clean, clean. You cannot have the motor clean enough putting it back together. My engine builder who has been working on race cars for more than 50 years said 90% of his business is from motors that weren't cleaned properly and ended up causing issues. Take your time and do it right.

I remember my first motor experience! My dad bought me a 1979 chevy luv truck when I was 14. It had the gasoline 110.8 ci isuzu 4 cylinder, four in the floor and 4x4. We spent two years rebuilding it from the ground up so I could drive it when I turned sixteen. Sold it a few years later when I got married....wish I would have just told her no. I can't seem to find another one now. Either way, I enjoyed hanging out in the shop with my dad. Now I couldn't get him to help me if I had too. Keep your eye on the goal and don't get impatient. When you get yourself in a hurry you start to over look things and not do the little things you would like to because all you care about is getting to drive it. Anyway, good luck and hope your putting all the good stuff in while your going through all the trouble.

Congrats kid! not only have you gotten halfway there! It sounds like dad has some experience doing this, so learn as much as possible. I can't tell you how much I wish my dad was able to help me. He was never a car guy....why I am I couldn't tell ya. Take your time and do it right so you're not screwing with it again once you get it back in. Good Luck

Good job man! I just did the same thing a couple months ago and just got it back on the road. It's a totally different animal now! My dad and i are actually starting a shop as we speak, the last coulpe years have been hell for me, hadent seen or talked to my dad or anyone for that matter for about 16 months because of a stupid girl who basically drug me off the face of the earth to a different state, came back about 6 months ago, single, and an alcaholic and somehow they all forgave me and gave me another chance. Sober now and will never again take it for granted!

Very nice! Definitely something to be proud of there And the time with dad is always cool. Enjoy it while you can before one or both of you gets too busy. Mine has helped me out a lot with my car and taught me a whole lot, and he still does work on it with me when he can, but man its hard to get a time where we're both able to just go out in the garage and disappear for a while.
