Default 1.6rr ??

It was recommended by a forum member to get 1.6rr (NSA) how do these stack up to those (1.6 rr (crane gold) 3/8 stud sa)? I was told the (NSA) would be goog for 10-12 HP).

Me personally I would run the nsa 7/16 for the addicinal strength over the Crane SA 3/8. Yes, they wwould be good for another 8-12 at the rear.

Make sure you get guide plates and hardened pushrods to go along with those NSA rockers.

Agreed with the above...7/16" stud NSA 1.6 rr's. Either Crane Golds or Comp Pro Mags would be my recommendation. Get hardened pushrods and guideplates as mentioned. You will also need LT4 springs at the minimum.

+1 I think with pro mags you will need to clearance the valve covers though

You gain power by loosing friction and by opening the valves higher. Full roller rockers have almost no friction compared the stock cast rockers being that they pivot using bearings. They have a ratio of 1.6 instead of the stock 1.5 ratio. For example a .500 lift cam using 1.5 rockers is a .533 lift cam when using 1.6 rockers. And being that the ratio is higher, the valves are open higher throughout the whole duration of the lobe which means a lot more air flow. Full roller rockers also have a roller tip where the valve meets the rocker. This also means less friction.

so realisticly, without any exaggeration, how much horsepower are you truly looking at getting with a completely stock lt1 switching from 1.5s to 1.6s?

oh and ty very much for the explanation.

around 10-12 horsepower. That is why they are so recommended.

Read this article about roller rockers:
Roller Rocker Article

Here you can see that most of the horsepower is gained from the reduction of friction. With that being said, it is safe to say that you will not see the same gains from using them with stock springs as compared to aftermarket valve springs which have higher seat pressures.

You can't use them with stock springs, you will get coil bind and bad things will happen. You need LT4 springs at the minimum. With stiffer springs, hardened pushrods are highly recommended also.

I went with the 1.6 SA Crane Golds and the LT4 springs Im very pleased with them. Since I've added them and removed my speaker box with 2 12" Subs I've picked up 3-4mph in the quarter mile......I'm very happy with mine, but I believe if i were going todo it again I would just go with a set of NSA and guideplates
