Default Kotzur Racing engines

What up,

Got a question...I did a search and read some threads, but I was was wondering who has done biz with Kotzure racing in San Antonio? I have my 396 ready to pull due to excessive blo-by, I was about to send the shortblock off to a shop in Ohio..but live in Austin/Kyle, I heard some things about Kotzur..mostly good, but the bad..was really bad, I was wondering on if anybody in the LTx crowd has done anything with them in the last 12-18 months..or if you know anyone who has, OR if someone here is planning to. I really just want some rings done and a possible re-hone due to I wanna go with total seals this time around...or Hell fire.

Anybody?

^^^^ Yeah Ed...you would definitly THINK so, but man...it aint so black and white with a lot of shops around here...I think I would rather take it to a reputable race engine builder..especially being that the motor see's it share of the bottle.

Trust me i hear yeah. I took a block to a local place to have it cleaned and magnafluxed. Thats it. 2 months later I get it back cleaned but they left it outside and then I sold the block to someone to have them take it somewhere i recomended and it ended up being cracked.

I would only look for an LT1 specialist if trying to figure out specs. Most unfamiliar shops will not believe the compression we get away with or what heads actually work etc.. Since you are just looking for a hone and rings no major components should be changed, you have an existing setup you are just refreshing. Anyone good with a SBC should be able to help you.

I fully understand wanting more feedback though, some mediocre to poor shops have GREAT reputations so it pays to dig.

They are a great shop with a good reputation. I use another shop that is closer to my house who is just as good. He balanced my rotating assembly and installed the splayed main caps on my block. Also "0" decked my block. The guy builds and races his own nitro drag boats. Shoot me a PM for his name and number if you want it.

Default Kotzur

A friend of mine uses him all the time, He says he does great work but at times takes a while to get your block back. He has built two or three motors for my buddy, Granted not LT's, his is a twin turbod 428 cu in motor...
