Maf help!

Default Maf help!

i've made a couple of posts lately regarding my rough idle...after reading some people having problems with their MAF...i decided it def couldnt hurt to clean the connections...i sprayed the connector and the plug with WD40...now my car wont start!! i tried drying the connections out...no dice!

help!

who told you to spray it with WD 40? you are only supposed to use MAF cleaner

try cleaning it with maf cleaner maybe you can save it

i didnt spray the actual maf or sensors...just the connection plug

that could be your problem. the liquid could have destroyed the electronics in there. ive never heard of anyone cleaning the connections, just the actual MAF wires

i guess i'll sit and wait for it to dry out..maybe i'llt ry it again in the morning..anybody else got ideas? should wd40 have caused a problem?

Let it sit and dry out. Use QD electronic cleaner on the terminals and use some brake cleaner on the element (just don't touch it with anything!!!)

Don't know if it will work with your year, but if your MAF is fried I have a almost brand new MAF off a '96 LT4 for $50 shipped............

thanks man...will carb cleaner work instead of brake? or is something special about brake cleaner

It might. I dont know if the ram air MAF is the same diameter as those used in the non-ram air.

btw...what did this maf come off of? as far as i know..the vette grand sport was the only '96 vehicle available with an LT4

Carb cleaner is a little more caustic than brake cleaner isn't it? I used brake cleaner on mine b/c the electronics cleaner didn't cut the crap that was on the element. If you have brake cleaner I'd use it, but if not try the carb cleaner cautiously.

OR....i'll just play it safe and pick up some brake cleaner when i get the electronics cleaner tomorrow

besides whether or not the MAF is fried, shouldnt the car still start? it should be able to start without even having the maf plugged in...will run rough..but it should start
