after market starter
after market starter well the starter on my 96 is going out, it`s the original
that i`ve had rebuilt twice.i`ve planned on a new motor from
golen i`m looking at the 396ci stroker. i plan on a after
market starter for it and figure i should go ahead and
get one. the motor is a 11.5 Compression set up. what kind
of starter have some of you run and which have you found
the best. the 96 lt1 auto trans how many teeth does the
fly wheel have? thanks for your advice.

I went with the Jegs (formerly Protorque) line of high-torque starters. Part number 555-10001. Works great, and it's adjustable. You may need to adjust your oil dipstick though, depending on how you need the starter adjusted.
I cant find a starter to clear my Kook headers so I have used the stock one and it lasted about 1 year and now I have the LT4 stocker and it has been in there for about 30 starts now and is working well with the 13.7:1 compression
I also have a MSD digital 7 box and retard the timing for startup.I think that makes a huge differance because I started without that and broke the stock starter on the first start lol
